Folding Your Dress Shirt

Some people simply do not have the option to hang all their shirts as they lack the appropriate closet space. A great alternative is to fold your shirts neatly and place them in a drawer.

How to neatly fold your dress shirt

  • Place your shirt on a flat surface
  • Make sure that all the buttons on your dress shirt are done up.
  • Rotate the dress shirt so the side with the front end of the collar and the placket are flat against a clean surface.
  • Take a single sleeve and place it inwards to create a diagonal fold with the sleeve top touching the bottom part of the shirt hem.
  • Ensure the cuffs are touching the hem of your dress shirt.
  • Flatten out any wrinkles. This could take up to 30 seconds.
  • Repeat with the other sleeve.
  • With the front end of the collar still facing down you can now fold up that side of the dress shirt so that it is now exposed giving some lee way between the top of the shirt collar and the bottom hem of the dress shirt.
  • Fold the extra portion of the dress shirt below the collar so it is between two layers.
  • We recommend now folding the shirt in half for maximum space.
  • You dress shirt is now ready to be placed in that dresser drawer or into your luggage. If placing into your luggage, we recommend placing it in between more forgiving clothes.
